9:02 am
well, still to come rain. all right. on the eve of that will track started to build. in the last hour we had an accident on the bay bridge that's now gone. but residual delays in the meter lights. still 17 minute ride for you heading into the city this morning. >> 24 82 want to want a little slow getting on the san mateo bridge, richmond center. fielder is 14 minutes. golden gate bridge has one was a little slow, but not that bad. 35 minute ride. if you're taking bart something to note that 20 minute delay on the san francisco line in all directions, the head earlier medical emergency medical emergencies clear just got residual delays areas. it is back to you. thank you. reyna 901. we want to give you an update now on the breaking news that's happening on the peninsula. police activity in north fair. oh, yeah. this isn't a community near redwood city in san mateo county. that's where kron four's michael thomas is standing by live. >> at the scene cycle going through that garage. >> well, neighbors tell me as early as 3.30, this morning there was swamp team and multiple police officers here
9:03 am
in this residential neighborhood. and you can see they're still here hours later going through the garage. and this is east of l community. allen. we've got a map up on your screen. it's the north fair oaks neighborhood. this simon bureau street and neighbors tell me essentially that early at about 4 o'clock or so that they heard loud noises and that it was a swat team and multiple police agencies here to arrest him. and i did speak with the person who was inside of that apartment complex and they tell me they were actually how sitting for the apartment that was being served with the search warrant. now, if we come back out here to the visuals, you can see police are still going through a garage. and the pretty people who were inside this apartment with a search warrant was served. they tell me that the man who was arrested at around 7 to 7.30, this morning was actually inside that garage. he's barricaded himself at some point, which is why police are now going through the area to see if you left anything behind as to what they were trying to arrest this man for it is currently
9:04 am
unknown as to what they're looking for. it's also currently unknown. the people who are inside that apartment tell me all they know is that police agencies did tell them they were serving a search warrant for that apartment, which they were house sitting. they were searching for a man who was currently in the garage who was in the garage at that time for a crime he had committed in the past as to what that crime was. the people inside tell me they did not know. they also did not really know the man to well as they were just how sitting and it's their cousin's home that they were house sitting. so the person police were looking for was a friend of their cars, said, and as you can see, police are still here. this includes san mateo county sheriff's office, redwood city police. and then we do have an emergency team here as well. neighbors are currently also outside they've been ou all morning for the most part, checking to see what's going on. according to what neighbors tell me, police were here. there was lots of loud noises. it included the swat team and there were dozens of different police officer officials here to try and get
9:05 am
this man into their custody and from what neighbors say that person was arrested again around 7 to 7.30. so as we get more details from officials and many press releases will keep you updated. that's the very latest reporting near redwood city. michael thomas will send it back to live in the studio. thank you, michael. >> 904, is the time. we also are following some breaking news from overnight in oakland where police there are investigating a deadly shooting that involved an officer. so this shooting happened just before 9.30, last night on 16th street. the police department says it was actually sacramento pd that was in oakland investigating a homicide when they asked oakland police to help them arrest a suspect. and the oakland police say that that suspect came out of the house with a gun and officers ended up shooting and killing that person. >> no officers were injured and those who are involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave pending the investigation. >> 905, is the time. and pro palestinian demonstrators were back out in south san francisco after a man attacked
9:06 am
them last week. and there's video of it is shows them and physically and verbally assaulting members of a group called change f. >> kron four's dan thorn has more. >> the man in that video was arrested by south san francisco police and charged with battery and hate speech. organizers for change ssf say facing that kind of vitriol was unfair and unacceptable because they're simply calling for peace and an end to the war in gaza. and they're rallies are not going to end until this war is over. >> palm people messages targeting pro-palestinian protesters last week in south san francisco races. a 57 year-old man was caught on camera bumping hurling insults and even spitting and i don't think being anti genocide. antiwar but apparently advocated by our message.
9:07 am
>> change ssn and see a 15 for palestine rallied in the same spot where the incident happened wednesday evening for weeks. they've been demanding a cease-fire resolution in south city. >> out of fear of the return of any bad actors, organizers asked for children to be kept at because my son does wish that he could out here with us. >> this is a very important cause along with other people like paul following last week's violence doxing. he's also been a concern for the group. >> so kron 4 was asked to not share the names of any ralliers. but the demonstrators also not staying silent, waving palestinian flags and getting the attention of drivers along el camino. change. ssf says they will not be deterred from their mission by men like everywhere. there's always going to be bad actors, whatever you're or whatever case you're advocating for. i
9:08 am
think that this is a matter of human rights. i think if you're advocating against preservation of human life, you should take a good look at yourself. >> these demonstrations were not supposed to be a weekly thing, but after last week's attack, the group says they felt compelled to carry on and they're planning on having another rally next week at the civic campus here in south san francisco in south san francisco. dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> and we're also following what's happening in the wake of the protests that happened on monday. remember the protesters who chained and attach themselves to these barrels with concrete inside alameda county district pam price says that her office is working on filing charges against the protesters who blocked a t in a statement to kron 4, she says she's working with the chp to process all the evidence and information and she wanted to point out, she says that while her office supports the essential right to protest, it's also safety should never be public p-

compromised in exercising the first amendment right of free speech. and, you know, there was the protests as well over at the golden gate bridge and the san francisco da, brooke jenkins says that she is reaching out to anyone who is impacted by the pro-palestine protest that stopped traffic on the golden gate bridge for hours. she says that anybody who was trapped on the bridge that day should contact the chp in iran. >> well, google has fired 28 of its employees that were protesting at the company's offices across the country on tuesday. one of those protests happened outside their offices in sunnyvale. our cameras were there along with the demonstrators who you see here on the screen. they say they want the company to cut ties with israel but police in the end arrested 5 people, including some google employees who refused to leave a google spokesperson says that physically impeding other employees work and preventing access to facilities is a clear violation of company policies. and that's why they were let go. speaking of which
9:10 am
turns out google is planning to lay off more people. a spokesperson for the compa-y says it's all part of an effort to cut costs. there's still no word on the number of employees that would be laid off. but this latest round follows job cuts that were made earlier this year when the company laid off about 1000 employees. >> happening today in the south bay janitors in san jose are going to be rallying, demanding better pay and better working conditions. meantime, 25,000 janitors across california are pending to a plan to authorize a strike because their contracts are set to expire at the end of this month. this is video from a previous rally in june of last year. the union for the janitor says that they're fighting to end abusive workloads that they say have caused injuries to about a 3rd of the workforce in the last year. and they also want better pay. the rally starts at 11 o'clock this morning. and for the adobe headquarters on park avenue. >> health officials in san francisco are working right now to lower barriers to child

health care. once a month, the city holds its wellchild fair in portola of the portola neighborhood. the event helps those who may not be used to navigating u.s. health care system, get the healthcare they need. one resident we spoke with says she came with her first child 8 years ago when she moved from the philippines and now she comes back with her 2 other children. >> here the the make appointment to to see you. so it's easy. easy for me because the help me to make an appointment and everything i live here and most of the doctor and the staff and then there's they they help me. they helped me a lot. and there are so friendly. >> well, the next well, child fair is scheduled for may. 15th. >> it's 9.10, right now. and earlier this morning, the city of san francisco mark a ceremony to remember 118 years since san francisco was devastador traded by an earthquake. that was 19. 0, 6, still amazing to look back at the video of that day. >> city officials honored
9:12 am
today with a wreath laying ceremony out a lot of fountain as they do every year in union square. this is video from this morning. then they held a moment of silence and that was followed by sirens from a fire truck. as we know, more than 3,000 people died the day of the earthquake and the fire more than 200,000 people were left without a home at this found in his were a lot of people met because, you know, it was chaos and in the city and nobody knew or where anybody was now in present day city officials use this as well as a reminder of how important it is to be prepared in the event of an earthquake. >> i think what people need to know is that the things that we depend on a will not be available to us. plan for that to just think through that scenario. >> and think about how you're going to prepare your family. >> they were out there in the dark at 04:45am in the morning, which is when the earthquake struck. mayor breed attend every year. but not this year because she's a visiting china, but they had
9:13 am
these early ceremonies. people came out and survivors used to come out. but again, it's been 118 years. so now we just remember. >> it is 9.12, and we'll take a break. but still ahead on the kron, 4 morning news and open family without a home now after a lithium battery caught fire will have there warning for you. >> and we are looking outside at the forecast today. that is going to be quite warm again. we've got 80's for san jose oakland, mid 70's sf. you'll be a little cooler comparatively all tell you more about a gradually cooling
9:14 am
9:15 am
>> it's 9.15, want look at the weather. there's plenty of sun
9:16 am
out there and things are going to warm up and it looks like it's going to stay that way for quite a little while. so i shut the heat off. that's right for the season. yeah, i've no answers. only gonna need i don't know. good morning, john. yeah, i i'm hoping not either. i don't think so. even with those 60's we have around the corner next week, you'll still get sunshine paired with it and all you need is to open up the windows and let that sunshine what we got today. you definitely don't need the heat for transamerica. building sitting nice under all that sun that we've got this high pressure ridge keeping us warm and notably keeping us dry. now tomorrow we'll see the return of a northwesterly breeze going to cool things off across the region. so will drop from the 80's at the warmest of the 70's tomorrow. then as this low pressure actually cuts off from the jet places itself right to our west into early next week. that is going to result in further cooling by tuesday and wednesday of next week. we're only going to be in the 60's for your daytime highs. so definitely on a downward trend. as far as temperatures go ahead of us. little bit of cloud cover here and there
9:17 am
today. but today is actually going to be a clear day than yesterday was tomorrow is going to be a mostly sunny one and a little cooler by that. i mean, 60's to 70's. so kind of that comfort zone for the weekend. that's going to be very pleasant feeling temperatures today 60's to 70's for the city and 60's at the coastline. cool coastal breeze out that direction. the rest of us not much cool about it at 70's to 80's for your highs today and even more of us actually in the 80's that yesterday, san jose at 82 degrees for your daytime high. looking at walnut creek conquered as well as danville up to 80 oakland and richmond. you'll be at 74 while solano county seeing a few low 80's as well. getting a look ahead at tomorrow. temperatures will fall into the mid 70's at the warmest and will stay that way into saturday. next week does come along with a further cooldown back into the 60's. right now, all eyes on the eve of that. well, looking at our highways and bridges in the 9 o'clock hour. still little busy over the east bay. >> like along, 85 88 80 traveling to oakland, san
9:18 am
mateo bridge. just a little busy. but along the peninsula to 80's looking a little better. the 101, not as red as it was that we got up to 80 along of the peak of the morning. still 14 minute ride into the city and the media lights are still on, but no accidents on the mateo bridge. richmond, sandra fell bridge looking good along with the golden gate bridge as well. 101. checking on you down from 80 to 56 minutes. so that's a lot of progress. checking on things in the east bay, silly down to 37. about 40 minutes. maybe you're taking 5 88. 82 open to both really busy right now. international might be a good option for you to bypass that darya. james, back to you. >> well, it's time now to talk winners and losers on wall street financial expert rob black here with us this morning. as the markets robber in the green, i see the dow up 186 the s and p up 18, not bad. at least. that's my take. what what do you see him? >> yeah. april hasn't been very friendly. but the 5 months before some of the market's rally to market
9:19 am
highs. so we're just off those highs. not too thought was back in december. we t 6 interest rate cuts this year. they went down to 3 right straight cuts this year. now it's down 2 because inflation stands stubborn 10 year. treasury says that 4.5%. so if you have the money market or cd treasury, you're getting a pretty good returns. there is an alternative to stock market and that's why we're seeing kind of seesaw right now. earnings start tonight, really big for tech companies, which we live in tech area. netflix report tonight and next week we get a lot of the magnificent 7. the big tech where we need to start seeing ai show revenue on the software side. not harbourside. okay. well, let's talk then. did you say netflix reports today? what he what are you looking for that? but what's >> got a feeling? the pressure being the first one out of the gate? the field pressure pretty dominant. what they do when they played 9.2 billion dollars in the last 90 days. >> that's up 13% year-over-year. that's a pretty good growth so they are
9:20 am
big tech debutante, so to speak their stocks up. 26% year-to-date. i think stock feels pressure is what you're picking up on. they're big 2 initiatives in the last year. cracking down password sharing and setting up an entry level ad-supported tier. both are doing pretty well. the password sharing there's 100 million americans who are cheating, netflix. in theory by not paying for the service all of their too big. they make too much money on allowed to steal. they crack down 20% of they do have 200,000 conversions are ready, but i think 800 billion 880 million to go 20 million worst 89. while i'm doing that kind of funny j save converted 20% of the cheaters. to price target on the stock 614, 7 or 25, which about 15 to 20% upside. they got some big shows come up this year, bridgeton 3 in the next couple months. umbrella academy for a love is blind. uk version are keen to
9:21 am
which i really yes. and i'm a video game. one. that had a great indeed has a great next year we get stranger things. 5, we get lincoln lawyer 3 and we get wednesday between. we get you know, new shows it seemed summer had s use rattle those off. those are all the shows i watched. yeah. and and nobody spends on content like netflix and does look like there. >> really slowing down. that seems to be their main montrezl right contact, contact content. >> they benefit from the strike, the screen actors guild and the writers guild because it didn't have to create new content for about 5 months. and he had hit shows that they just license from other tv networks and shows like seats for a big winner for them, which makes no sense at coming up with a suit sped off. >> there's a lot of like nostalgic shows that seemed to be back in vogue once well, quickly, before we leave to, we did a story about the solar panel industry here in california kind of taken a hit. i guess sales are down. but that's just because we've
9:22 am
got so many installs here in this state right uses them as they're more market left. >> well, streaking fast last year from last year's levels were down about 25% last year's level. higher interest rates, tighter credit cuts to sort centers have all cut idea. ultimately for most the day my solar panel sent energy back to california to the grid back to pg and e and they don't want that. they want to have more batteries in her home because the energy grid really can't take care of it. they have to throw away a lot of electricity that we generate offer roofs and we are kind of a winter, but we're almost to successful because the infrastructure, the pgp infrastructure, it's not there yet. california has cut payments back. so right now getting $0.37 that charge $0.37. but if you're new here, only getting 75% less than that nearly 25%. so you know, 8, 9.10, cents to send electricity back to the grid, which you can't make money on that one to $40,000 donation so. it's a problem. that's a good problem to have. if you have a solar energy panel
9:23 am
because that, once they see those are gone. it's like free electricity for 5 or 6 months. yeah, all problem all i heard was they've got so much electricity. they're throwing it away. and yet my pg e bill. >> continues to climb. is nowhere to store it. yeah. all right. we need to get more storage. maybe that's the next big wave. all right, rob, thank you as always. we're going to check in with rob once more come monday. so let him know now what you want to talk about. you've got a social media handles. you've we
9:24 am
9:25 am
now. 25 the time and on the peninsula. a man has been
9:26 am
arrested now in connection with the robbery near coyote point park in san mateo. that robbery happened about 7.15, monday night. again, qaeda point drive. police say that michael byrne came up. bruni came up with the victim and demanded his phone while also having a pistol tucked into his pants. they say the victim distracted bruni was able to run towards the park. officers say bernie tried to catch that man but couldn't and got into a nearby suv and left. they say witness was able to get the license plate number. so they're tracking that down. police say they did find that car parked in front of a target store in the bridge point shopping center and ended up arresting rooney while he when he returned t that car. bruni was booked in center county jail on multiple suspected crimes. well, california attorney general rob bonta set to hold a news conference this morning in oakland to talk about efforts to solve california's ongoing housing crisis. bonta plans to speak at 9.30 this morning. he'll be at the casa sueno scored yard and hear concerns
9:27 am
from residents of the field transit village. after that, he plans to do a tour of the windows fruitvale, which is a planned basically plant cultural hub for community entrepreneurs and local businesses. >> 9.26 right now. and what if you don't want driverless cars in your neighborhood? there's a new bill that is in the state senate that looks to regulate driverless cars. it aligns autonomous vehicle restrictions with those that are driven by humans. and that means local police could take up the car. communities could keep them out of areas of concern and driverless cars would also be subject to the same dmv requirements is any other vehicle. the bill had its first hearing yesterday. it could be a month or more before if it passes, it goes to the governor's desk. we'll keep you posted. 9.27 right now. and coming up next on the kron, 4 morning news, something that is a tiktok challenge has been spreading in bay area. teens. >> and it could put them in danger. we'll tell you what
9:28 am
they're doing.
9:29 am
9:30 am
>> 9.29 right now and we're checking out the weather. i do want to give you know, because i walk the dogs in heat yesterday. and it's now at that point where you can't leave the dogs in the which sure it gets too hot inside the car because temperatures today. john, what do you think? what are some of the highs? yeah. some low 80's. 82 will be the warmest that santa is a a low. 80, though, over towards conquered walnut creek spots like that. >> it starts to get a little bit of toasty on those pause as you take the dogs out what we got out there. happy bay is clear skies now a ton of you walking around out there. love to see you. enjoying a clear
9:31 am
morning happening. but you're going to stay in the 60's today. so cooler at the coast while warmer for inland areas. lot of sunshine today to, in fact, even bluer skies than what we had yesterday. temps right now range anywhere from the 50's to the 60's and a couple spots like pittsburgh in vacaville now getting close to that 70 degree mark in its just 9.30, in the morning today. we will have those low 80's inland. lot of 70's elsewhere. i'll get your full breakdown as we go, right. all right, john, thank you for progress we're starting to see in the 9 o'clock hour. >> no more traffic building at the bay bridge like about 23 minutes. then you add up to that now at 16 so and the meter like just a lawn. just a little slow, but not as bad as it was. 24 minutes to bridge late 80, you're still seeing a little traffic on that side. a richmond center fell bridge 13 minute ride in terms of bart delays. not seen any looks like that. 20 minute delay on the san francisco line. that's clear. now, 30 minutes across the golden gate bridge in a look at our highways. so a
9:32 am
little rain in the east bay. so 18 80's, a little slow, 2.80, on the peninsula side. that looks regions. back to you. thanks a lot. right now. >> okay. recap in this morning's big breaking news story from overnight. that's where oakland police now are investigating a deadly shooting that involved one of their officers. now, the shooting happened just before 9.30, last night along 16th street. in fact, it was sent a sacramento police that were in town there in oakland investigating a homicide when they asked oakland police to help them in arresting a suspect that they were after. and the oakland police say that would happen is the suspect came out of the home with a gun. >> and officers ended up shooting and killing that person. no police were injured and now those officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues. >> well, a warning about a game trending on social media that could have some pretty dire listen to this. we had a concerned citizen called 9-1-1 because they spotted a teenager running through a
9:33 am
neighborhood holding. what did that look like a gun? turns out, though, it was not a real gone kron four's terisa stasio reports. it was part of this trend called. >> senior us asa's. yeah. just call that the assassin challenge. >> kron 4 news obtained the snapshots from a deputy's body worn camera of replica gun recovered by marin county sheriffs on tuesday. a spokesperson says the deputies pulled over the team with friends after an uber driver have reported seeing what he thought was a teen running through a neighborhood holding a real weapon, according to their was something that they knew could be riskier. people could be concerned about. >> so they're trying to be smart about but running through residential neighborhoods and hiding behind is not really smart way to go about doing that. >> that's marin county deputy adam schumer horn. he says that the high school student told deputies recently purchased the fagan online to participate in the senior assassins game. we're seniors

house with for the 3 and purchasing in marin county, theresa kron. 4 news. >> well, several east bay school districts were on high alert yesterday after getting a bomb threat. that was about 6 o'clock yesterday morning. we had it. here is breaking news on the kron 4 morning news. but this threat was emailed to a number of different school districts include the antioch unified school district, brentwood union, liberty union, mount diablo, unified and pittsburg, unified school districts. the threat claim that there was a bomb on campus that would go off unless russian prisoners were released from us jails. ultimately, police looked into this and decided it was not a credible threat unified, though did have some extra security on campus just to be sure we spoke to some ended up deciding pick up their kids early just in case. >> he didn't really the sense you real, not. >> was were used gear. i want. a little scared.
